Belgian death/grind band Aborted have officially signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. Originally formed in 1995, the group's latest full-length, "The Archaic Abattoir," was released via Century Media imprint Olympic Recordings this past May. Here's a statement from founder and lead vocalist Sven De Caluwé regarding the deal in addition to the band's upcoming North American tour with Suffocation, Cryptopsy, and Despised Icon:
"It's been a very hectic, intense and heavy year for Aborted. Yet a year in which we have done tons of amazing things, went to amazing places and met a lot of cool new people. One of those amazing things is being signed to a label we believe will be able to lift this band to new heights. They believe in us 200% and are going to help us take the next step in our careers. With our North American tour we will finally be able to get out to the U.S. and Canada and do some damage. Needless to say we are extremely thrilled to hit the road and to be a part of the growing Century Family, a company that stands for nothing but quality releases and that strongly supports every cool act under their wings." |

That's the way I see it. |

actually, they went downhill before CM picked them up. so its only fitting that they move up the ladder now that theyve watered down their sound. |

I totally agree.
And their cover art sucks. |

the haematobic ep was the last thing i kinda dug from them. |

just out of curiosity what makes you think they watered down their sound? went commercial, got old, or lost their knack for song-writing |
|
The thing that did it for me was Sea of Cartiledge off of Goremageddon wasn't as nearly as good as the original.
I should also state I don't like new death metal so my opinion is valueless anyways. |

number one, they started putting in open chug breakdowns. dont get me wrong, i like breakdowns. but for a band that created great gore/death without them in the first place makes it pretty lame to me. so adding in stuff like says to me: #1: lack of creativity & #2: doing whats cool (notice that they have been more or less blowing up because of it). and also, they did one of those stupid 'rock n roll' songs on the new album that all hipster hardcore bands do becuase its cool and ironic. yes, we know you like lynyrd skynyrd. get over it. |

'abbatoir' was ok, 'goremageddon' was good, 'engineering' was amazing. seems to me they were already on their way downhill before the CM signing. |
|
Did I mention their art sucks? |
