there seem to be a lot of computer savy people on here and i figured i'd ask..

when i opened outlook express this morning all the emails in my inbox were gone...i had a lot of important emails in there :( i also have subdirectories and those are fine...

anyhow..apparently i think what happened is that in the "tools", "options" category.."Compact messages when there is 20% wasted space...was checked off....

anyhow, i saw a log file and it looks as though the "cleanup.log" said that i had a lot more than 20% wasted space in my inbox...

so i guess it deleted them..or ?

i have been doing searches on pst files and dbx files and have come up with nothing..

any suggestions? these emails were really important =(

as a last resort i would install a file retrieval program that let's you find stuff you deleted off you pc..if any one knows of one. Please help

yeah so i am a little desperate in getting them back...i called out help desk (aka help less desk) and they told me i'm SOL

my outlook asks for my password every time, and the 'remember password' box is always checked...even when it asks me for it. not a big deal, but annoying. any help is apreciated

don't use outlook EXPRESS.

use outlook, or netscape 7.

Jesus, have you tried deinstalling and reinstalling? What i mean is deleting the profile and then rebooting..and then reentering the profile? i had the same problem at that worked for me...

about my issue, i am literally sick to my stomach..i had really important emails and i cannot believe they are gone...i lost some pretty important contacts and info...

oh Tom, it's my work laptop so i can't use outlook...that's for my "work" related emails

if you want or don't want this to happen again, install ns7 and use the mail program it comes with.

I hate tasks... they pop up all over the place.
the mail filtering in outlook is a bit primative..
but it works well enough.

i sure hope when the Rev gets his hand on my laptop ... my email issues will be over...
