I don't know what is up with the RS pictures.. let me try and figure it out.
versoma: in on the kill taker era fugazi (mike/anodyne influence?) and Q and not U/later discord rock (LGS influence?). they bridged a lot of the songs with spacey distorted guitars not stopping long enough for applause but once in their 45 minute set. I'm sure this is a much more stable and consistent live act for jamie after the utter hilarious chaos of LSG. I hope he can take a tour where the band actually plays all their songs every night. they didn't even stop for applause at the end of their set.
daughters: weird, girls in the front row were rubbing their hands together in anticipations. people started to mosh during their set. that was kind of weird for a daughters show alsothe longest set from them ever. They actually played without a lot of the BS/rock star stuff from their other sets. I think there was a new guitarist, but I know there was no penis. I suggest people listen to nation of ulysses before passing harsh "as the sun sets" judgements on the daughters.
red sparowes: my second time seeing them. I guess they have someone from pelican with them, but I wasn't really looking. before their set, I got told by a ton of people not to use flash during their set. it didn't really matter cause they had a DVD-projector going on the screen behind them. it was fun to play with that. These guys played upstairs last year and were so amazingly awesome that I went and listened to their CD. a lot. their sound is perfect for the upstairs of the middle east. if fills that place perfectly. downstairs on the other hand, the room seems a little too big for their sound and something is lost to the echo of that room. I only recognized one track during their set.
