New site? Maybe some day.

Damn, Tully's Beer and Wine in Wells, ME is quite possibly the best place in New England to buy beer. That is, of coarse, unless you're a pussy and you only like American-rust water beer like Budweiser and don't have enough hair on your balls to enjoy a good barleywine style ale or something of the like.
Anyone who ever even comes remotely close to that area should do themselves a favor and go there.

I thoroughly enjoy and endorse belgian beers and heffeweizens |

mOe forgot his PW said: I thoroughly enjoy and endorse belgian beers and heffeweizens |
shit, I had some the most rediculous Belgian beers the past few weeks I've been working up there. I can't remember the names except this one:
I had another one that had a pirate on it also and it was just as good. I don't drink too many specialty Heffs although I do thoroughly enjoy Harpoon UFO, Bluemoon, and Sam's Heff. |

ive been hooked on old guardian lately, stone makes quality hop water
la fin du monde is a swell taste if the wallet agrees |

Yea, that's some good shit also. My least favorite though is the Trois Pistoles - it kind of tastes like burnt coffee.

High Life is actually pretty good in bottles. Cans it tastes kinda asstastic though. |
|
dude High Life is the best. 18 pack of bottles for 10.89. fuck yes. |
|
If you like green bottle guinea beer, this is pretty tasty:

"forsooth squire, hand me thine barleyale"
"get out of here immediately you faggot"

I hate beer elitists.
there's nothing more annoyingly redneck then then acting like the darker your beer, the more manly man you are. I'm a fan of white ales myself.
That being said, Blue moon and Hoegaarden FTW.
I'll drink whatever will get me drunk though, I don't give a fuck about how much hair is on my balls. I shave them anyways. |
|
i'm not a big fan of darker beers either... although i do enjoy a good Guiness on occasion |
|
I like a beer that, were you to stick a spoon in it, would cause said spoon to stand straight up, preferably the color of black coffee and/ or molasses. That being said, a nice hoppy ale is always good to cleanse the palate. And get you fucking shitfaced. |

I really like Stella off the tap. Out of the bottle, it's OK, but it kind of loses something. |
|
ya i agree... and the same goes for Sam Summer |
|
Also, for light beer that doesn't suck:
It comes in cans now, too. So I guess that would be the official light beer of a white trash wedding. |
|
I don't necessarily only like "dark beers" so to speak. The color of the beer really doesn't have much weight on the alcohol content and/or flavor- if you think so you are just falling for the myth. Most Belgian ales, although they are not entirely see-through, are usually blond or semi-copper tone and they are just as brutal if not more than a lot of "dark" colored beers. I guess when it comes down to it, to be more specific, I like heavy beers - meaning heavy taste and an above average alcohol content. |
|
These guys make some killer beers!
|
|
i'm not a fan of SUPER hoppy tasting beers, i.e. stouts, IPA's, etc. |

That does look pretty irresistible. The real question, however, would be what the hell you were doing riding around NYC in a wagon. They have cabs, y'know. |

*lol*
Yeeeeaaaaaaaa I know but, I'd rather walk. |

La Fin Du Monde really is made of epic and win, bottled and fermented. Big fan of the Long Trail family of beers, as well. |
|
i just tried la fin du monde, awesome and a nice break from all the dark beers i usually drink |
|
picked up a few alesmith speedway stouts. top notch stuff. |

I think this is my favorite Sam Adams variety. It's really exceptionally good for them. Alot of their beers I would rate as so-so. |

I'm a fan overall, but I'm hearing that from a lot of folks that don't usually like Sam - the Winter Lager seems to win them over. |
|
octoberfest is my favorite sam adams brew |
|
I mean I appreciate Sam as better than average beer don't get me wrong. I just feel that alot of their varieties do not really justify the price tag. Sam Summer is also very good. And the Light is probably the best light beer out there. |
|
tobias boon said: And the Light is probably the best light beer out there. |
This is obviously the truth.

I try to have fairly good taste with beers. My dad made sure to instill that in me at a young age.
In my fridge right now, I've got:

mortalis nli said: picked up a few alesmith speedway stouts. top notch stuff. |
holy shit! i had that stuff a few months back! potent as fuck (12% ABV) and strong coffee tones to smoothen the alcohol. definitely a good grab for the coming winter.
tobias boon said: Sam summer is also very good. |
seriously? despite its drinkability i thought the mouthfeel was horrendous and lemon zest finish was swilly-nilly. harpoon summer is where its at.
anyone ever been to the Sam Adams or Harpoon breweries? i'm moving to JP soon and I'm pumped to go to the Sam Adams one now. |
|
Harpoon Summer is much better but I wouldn't call anything about the Sam Adams Summer horrendous. I don't know what swilly-nilly means so I can't comment on that. As I said before, it's a very good beer, not amazing. |
|

i just agree with your point that its not really worth the price tag. if i were going to drop dough on sam adams i'd go for anything out of the brewmaster's collection (brown ale and black lager especially).
straight up, sam summer's a chick beer. |
|
Ha
K I totally disagree with that because the Harpoon Summer is way smoother and easier to drink so if anything that is a "chick" beer. Both of them are good; Harpoon is better, whatever. |
|
maybe i'm just biased because i'd prefer a porter over a pale, pale wheat ale any day of the year. |
|
recent favorites:
Rouge's Arrogant Bastard
Rouge's Emperial IPA
Lagunita's Undercover Shutdown double IPA
Celebrator double bock
old favorites:
Samuel Smith's oatmeal stout
Ipswich just about anything
Smuttynose Hearty Porter & Shoals IPA
ol' faithful:
PBR and/or Schlitz
just snagged a Sam Adams Triple Bock... looking forward to it.
|
|
best beer to have on a summer day is the allagash white ale. |
|
you guys are silly, the best sam adams are black lager, cream stout, and old fezziwig. i heard the boston ale is real good too but ive yet to try it |

I was JUST going to post this, one of the best tasting beers i've ever had. Corsendonk is great like davefromthegrave said. Goldenmonkey is potent shit and has some different tasting spices in it. I love most all Hefeweizens. I've had a lot of different beers because I used to live with an alcoholic who rarely drank the same thing twice.

truth. i brought like 16 of them to the basement show we played in allston. i think most of the compliments we got were because of the beer, hah. also, i need to try that supplication ale. i never seem to see it at the local "nice" liquor store, though. |

nah, this is my first foray into the world of lambics. i love the flavor of raspberries, so i think the framboise is next on my list when it comes to this style. |

HOLY SHIT
i had that once at a new years party at this kids place who was a brewer for sam adams. it was a lot darker than it looks in the pic but goddamn. it didn't even taste like beer, it was like whiskey or something. crazy shit either way.
24%ABV and $150 for a bottle is too rich for my blood and blood alcohol content. |
