its almost may get on it sucker |
|
hahahaha. do we know any booking agents?
do you mean 'i hope we have enough money to hire a booking agency to book us a tour?' |
|
for one, i would suggest that you either add a few dates to that tour or reroute it. if your last date is in florida, you're going to spend about $500 in gas driving home, when you could be playing shows and making a few bucks.
from NC to Georgia, to Tennessee to Mississippi to Florida is a TON of driving. after North Carolina i'd consider something like Memphis, TN-->Louisville, KY-->Cleveland, OH-->somewhere in PA (different then where you played on the way out)-->Albany, NY-->home
except for NC to TN, you're looking at 3-5 hour drives, tops. Anything longer than that when you have a show the same day totally sucks. |
|
"how'd you like ta make 14 dollahs the haaaaahd way?" |

didnt even notice that. how do you end a tour halfway across the US? jesus christ. |
|
im going to give you guys a few things about this tour that you should seriously consider...
1. 3 no name bands on tour is a guarantee for failure. you guys are going to be fucked when it comes to splitting the money made for the night for gas.
2. you guys dont have a release out, let alone having played more than 25 shows (if that) as 'the summoned.' there is no fan base outside of new england for you guys.
3. you guys need to start out small, tour wise. 1 week (MAX) is what you need to do the first time around. its very obvious that you guys have no experience doing this, it doesnt really seem feasable that you could pull it off.
4. regardless if anyone 'knows' any booking agents, thats not going to get you a deal or have someone book you a tour for free. bands on (real) labels get booking agents. not local nh bands.
5. you guys have been trying to book this tour for a month and havent come up with anything. take a clue.
6. do you have vans (for 3 bands) all lined up? transporting 3 bands is expensive shit.
not trying to be an asshole about this, just trying to put the obvious on the table. |
|
I would say doing a few small weekend outings would benefit you guys greatly before doing a tour all the way down the east coast. Do RI, CT and NY one weekend, MA, different area of NY and PA another weekend, etc. That's how the majority of young bands get the exposure needed to establish a bigger fanbase and get a feel for all of the ups and downs of touring. Even as a well established band you'll come into an infinite amount of problems on the road that can really make you question whether or not touring is even worth it. That said, try to send messages on MySpace to promoters or people with basements to play in to get some weekend gigs planned, and see what happens from there. |
|
that being said, myspace "business" is never good business...try and work outside the framwork of that shit if at all possible. |
|

Cuz Drive-by bukkake consists of 1 member from the summoned, 1 from me vs. me, and our merch guy (steve's brother).

actually with Throwing Shrapnel i had nothing but goodluck while planning our weekend tours. |
|
thru myspace that is, just stay in contact with the people youre working with and get a contact number for that person and the venue your playing.
and make friends with the bands youre playing shows with, it helps too. |

duly noted. that certainly makes life easier. |
|
MySpace contacts are usually only good for weekend outings. A lot of people don't realize there are actually other websites out there, and real people in real life too, haha. |
|
I'm avoiding myspace contacting as much as I can but sometimes the promoters just wanna be contacted via myspace. |
|
these are the characters who come with a caveat. |

blue can you take about 48 hours of your life and send this message to every band on myspace that thinks they are going to book a 3 week tour this summer across half the country even though they have never left their hometown. most of which are 18-20 years of age. people need to really stop pretending like their band matters because they have a half decent myspace page with a few friends and some generic "metal" artwork. there are already 100-200 shitty metalcore bands on tour this summer that are actually signed with records in stores that barely anyone is going to see. why do you think anyone is going to book you or come to see you?
note: this has nothing to do with my opinion of the summoned. i have never even heard them, seen them, or experienced them in any way. but if i were them id take blues advice. haha. |

that means dont book with them. it means they will probably cancel the show a week beforehand or give you 10 buck even though your probably asking 100 for a guarantee. |
|
