There are many reasons why I must leave the band, and this has been going on for a while now, so I am quitting," Alex said in a statement released to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "The band and I believe it is better for me to go, so I am moving forward."
He continued, "I want to thank the guys in Cryptopsy for an adventurous and crazy 10 years. It's been a great ride. I will, especially, miss the fans a great deal and I want to thank all of you for your awesome support throughout those years.
"Right now I need to take a break for a few months to reflect on my life and my future in music.
"As far as music goes, I might start my own band next summer, but I don't know yet. In the meantime, I am open to good offers and to join other forces."
"The Unspoken King", Cryptopsy's sixth full-length and first to feature new vocalist Matt McGachy, was released June 24, 2008 to a wide array of reactions. Flo Mounier explained his intention in reshaping the dynamics of the band to Decibel magazine: "I'm a fan of different sorts of music, and I think it's most fun when a band puts out an album that has elements of everything; you get this thing called diversity, not boredom. That's what we're trying to do. Still, I think people are going to be surprised how brutal this album is."
i thought they already stopped. Are you telling me that cryptopsy is going to get a new guitarist and release ANOTHER terrible fucking album?????

Doesn't make a difference at this point. Judging from that music video, you can't tell if there are guitars in there at all. All I can hear are drums, vocals, and the occasional slap bass
So anyway.... Has anyone else heard the rumors about Gorguts reforming?

Maybe he quit because all their newer albums sound like solo drumming, with the only guitars being what bled through the headphones while Flo was tracking.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorguts "As of December 2008, a demo track, featuring guitar and programmed drums, of new Gorguts material has recently surfaced online, and Lemay himself has confirmed an upcoming reunion."
If this is accurate, it's far better news than whatever Cryptopsy is doing these days.

yeah, this is common knowledge in Quebec. they came close to do a reunion for the Voivod 25 years fest.

I heard that demo track before it had drums and it sounded like a continuation of From Wisdom to Hate. CAN'T WAIT!!!
curious to hear whatever he's involved in next. cryptopsy is really gone now.
Alex could'nt play for shit the last couple of years he was in Cryptopsy, always drunk and butchered good solos many times I saw them live, the other new guy should've done them. Nothing can save Cryptopsy, Have they quit or what?
