God money i'll do anything for you |
|
God money, just tell me what you want me to
God money, nail me up against the wall
God money, don't want everything he wants it all
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take that away from me
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take that away from me
Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control
Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
God money's not looking for the cure
God money's not concerned about the sick among the pure
God money let's go dancing on the backs of the bruised
God money's not one to choose
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take that away from me
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take that away from me
Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control
Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control

i voted to have it removed. |

Strangely enough, I don't care either way. |

The motto is opposed by some but it is still widely popular among Americans. According to a 2003 Gallup Poll, 90% of Americans approve of the inscription on U.S. coins. The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment states that congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. Critics contend that the motto's placement on money constitute a federally funded endorsement of the religious belief in God. The Supreme Court has upheld the motto because it has "lost through rote repetition any significant religious content." so-called acts of "ceremonial deism" that have lost their "history, character, and context". Constitutionalists object to sworn judiciaries regarding the United States Constitution as secondary to personal opinion and subjective historical analysis.[15][16] Some activists have been known to cross out the motto on paper money as a form of protest. The law in this regard, 18 U.S.C. § 333, is an intent-based law and since this would be a free speech act it would be unlikely a successful prosecution could occur, likewise it's very unlikely marking out the word "god" on currency is sufficient enough of a defacement for it to be declared unfit for recirculation according to the FRB's fitness standards.
Outside of constitutional objections, President Theodore Roosevelt took issue with placing the motto on coinage as he considered it sacrilegious to put the name of God on money. |
|
if you have some free time on your hands you can cross out god on your bills.
also on one dollar bills you can write B before the ONE and R after. bONEr, lolz. |

Fools with nothing better to bitch about, IMHO. |

yeah yeah, of course there are more important things to accomplish, but yet here you are, posting a reply... |

I dont think that changing the "In God We Trust" should be one of our nations biggest concerns right now, but for the whole "poll" purpose of this thread I think that we should keep the phrase in there. It's something that our fore fathers created and we should honor that in their honor. I know that there are people out there who dont believe in God but that number is very small compared to the worlds population. |

ha! yeah because our 'forefathers' would have intended women to vote and the slaves to be freed too right? who gives a fuck about our 'forefathers', it's 2009. get with it.
Obviously there are more important things going on but to me, crushing religion is pretty important as it's at the root of many worldly problems. |
|
this whole thing is all well and good ideally, but you'll never purge religion from the masses. most of the population can't function without religion, despite not following its guidelines whatsoever. god is the reason we live in this wretched state of society, but at the same time, god is the reason most people do anything at all. i have always dreamed of a world free of god, but the more i think about it, people would go nuts. think about how many people you know who can't function without being told what to do, now imagine them without any internal guidance. the world would be worse without religion. |
|
But compared to say, the middle-ages? In America, I think there's a fair majority of like-minded individuals who believe life is most likely meaningless and there is no god to offer us salvation. God is a coping mechanism and faith-based thought tries to project the idea that we suffer greatly during our existence on Earth, but through blind worship, we'll be saved and immortalized within an after life. It's the biggest superstition going. This idea seems to infect susceptible individuals, especially those in 3rd world countries who need something to elevate them above the harsh realities of their sordid and bleak conditions. I'm certainly not bereft of spirituality, but if the Judeo-Christian god is some anthropomorphic deity, as many do believe, then he/she/it has got a lot to answer for. |

"HAIL SATAN!"
|

If you really care THAT much, invest in a Sharpie and cross that shit out on all legal tender that comes into your possession. Or get creative. Replace "God" with "Faggot Nigger" or something festive. |
|
If money truly is the root of all evil, then it's only fitting that the word "god" is found on the greenback. |

ha i always wondered when that realization would hit you. |
|
the realization was like when Cartman realized the world doesn't revolve around him in the Cesar Milan episode. |

Who cares, money is money as long as you get what you want with it! |

hey buddy, this is america. love it or leave it. |

As a parent, I like the idea of teaching my kids about God.
I just teach them the most subversive thought there is: God is the world and nature is his benevolent hand.
I have no time for atheists (secular fundamentalists) or nitwitty dualists. 99% of atheists are people who are frustrated at dualism and conservatism, not religion itself, which makes them philosophical for believing in liberal ideology, which is a secular version of Christian morality. |
|
Its only money who gives a shit, I dont see how its gonna make any difference with any of the real problems with money that we already have.
But who knows maybe taking Gods name off of there will be the one thing to get him angry enough to show us he still cares about whats going on down here

Yes, good point, because America was founded by whiny, secular, unemployed pagans, with no other problems, except the welfare they collect has the word 'God' on it. |
|
The real question is, do you care enough to boycott money?
I doubt it.
When hardcore vegans are seriously injured and need to rehab and recoop, guess what a key element in their rehab regimen is?
Eating meat. |
|
by far the funniest thing i have ever seen on a bill i found. |

Disillusioned underachievers made America great, man. |

He's thinking out of his mouth... |

Writing "I should of never gave you niggas money" in a thought bubble on a five right now.

Couldn't he have arranged for ship rides back???
Newark, Detriot and Philly would be a lot better now. |

I wish to rid the world of religion. All religion based around humans.
I'm for reason.
But I voted no. I'm really 50/50. It's been on the dollar so long and doesnt really impose religion on us. eh.
Then again, people are dumb and will process "in god we trust" as an add for god without knowing it. I guess I should have voted no.
Oh well. |
|
The statement "In god we trust" doesnt really give me any indication as to which God our money is refering to (unless ofcoarse there is some sacred US document about cash which I am forgetting about that states other wise ) so i would say its safe to assume its ok to trust what ever god you want. Especially since one of the big things we like to brag about having in this country is "Freedom of Religion." |
|
I voted "Yes" to take it off but I really couldn't care less since I never look at my money long enough to see "In God We Trust" on it anyway. |
|

Most "reason" is based around humans, too. |
