but wait, I know you don't like Cynic, so I'm assuming you don't like Gordian Knot. Bill Bruford drummed on half of their newer album.
Robert Fripp, although the only permanent member of KC, is the only one that's still respectable right?
I liked Blood Inside a lot but I think SOTS is just a whole different animal. There's so many things about this album that just grab me, like the production and the amazing vocals. Definitely deserved to be in the albums of the year list.

Ulver rules, old and new. My favorite will always be Bergtatt, and Perdition City is awesome while getting it on with a chick.
Everything by Ulver kicks ass. Shadows of the Sun is incredible. Check out the movie "Uno." Ulver teamed up with some other guy to do the soundtrack. The song EOS, track 1 on SOTS is in that movie. Another good soundtrack they did is Svidd Neger.
I'm not huge one Blood Inside in its entirety, but I think Dressed in Black is probably one of the most intense and emotional songs they've ever put out. Every time I hear the ending build up, it makes me wish the world was ending.
Pretty much dig everything I've heard (i.e., most of it), except for Metamorphosis. Little too dance-y. Listen to Lykantropen Themes on the regular, love that shit.
Different lineups, essentially. Different outlook and approach, but experimental in every regard. Stretching boundaries and trying new ideas. Never really lost respect for anything Ulver has done, other than when Garm changed his name to Trickster G. GTFO

Also, lulz at prince threatening to sue when ulver and other bands were trying to put together a tribute to prince.

Everything Ulver has ever done is incredible. Everything Garm has done is incredible. Personal favorites: Bergtatt, Kveldssanger, Blood Inside, A Quick Fix of Melancholy, Perdition City (in ya ass, in the rain) and A Marriage of Heaven & Hell.
