why do people insist on looking at music as something more than it is?

every type of art has a scene and this forum shows that. metal is a joke but you all listen to it. there is no movement behind music genres anymore.

whether or not someone has a trve appreciation of it doesn't matter to me. i'm not on some black metal crusade, what goes on in metal outside of my band room, as long as i can still go to shows and see good bands, what the fuck do i care? violence and hatred toward what? i worship absolutely nothing. not metal, not a scene, not satan, nothing. metal is an escape, it is art, nothing more.

or we could attach rules to metal, that always works. that way we can define individuals by a scene they're attached to.

conversely you can form a mental picture of one's personality by knowing what types of art they appreciate. but that is only your perception, and it doesn't reach very far.
