Best time for beer. Love all fall beers, especially the German ones. Liquid ham dinner beer or gtfo.
Post the beers you enjoy this season

Be more specific so I can indulge in black outs.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 26,2010 12:29pm
The name of the ham dinner beer slips away from me at the moment. It was a Rauchbier (smoked beer) so it tasted like a smoked ham dinner over a campfire. There's plenty of them.
Personally, I can't wait for the Pumpkin beers gain. I'd have to go through my bottle collection to list a few top notch fall beers

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 26,2010 12:34pm
just got a craving for Hobgoblin. Haven't had one of those in a long time

toggletoggle post by RustyPS should be working at Aug 26,2010 12:35pm
I guess I just don't understand flavored beers...everyone raves about the Shipyard Pumpkinhead...I like beer, I like pumpkin flavor....don't like them together

I like beers with slight lemony flavor (Summer brews obv), but other than that, gimme beer with no frills

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 26,2010 12:41pm
I mean, I love all beer.. Natty Ice to Sam Adams utopia. There's a lot of "meh" beer, but once in a while you'll strike gold. I go to ratebeer.com before I buy a beer I never had before. Usually the reviews are spot on.

toggletoggle post by AndrewBastard at Aug 26,2010 12:44pm
pumpkin beer is fail. Im a pussy cause im partial to summer beers...i think sam summer with a lemon is where its at. Winter beers suck FTRecord...

toggletoggle post by Burnsy at Aug 26,2010 12:49pm
Love the Sam Adams octoberfest. Went to Buffalo Wild Wings last year and got to keep the mugs from each one I drank.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS should be working at Aug 26,2010 12:52pm
I also enjoy Sam Octoberfest...and is there a Buffalo Wild Wings in the Boston area?

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 26,2010 12:53pm
Awesome restaurant

toggletoggle post by Burnsy at Aug 26,2010 12:56pm
The closest buffalo wild wings I'm aware of is either Windsor, CT (about 20-30 mins from Springfield) or in Amherst/Hadley.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS should be working at Aug 26,2010 12:57pm
yikes....well they need to bring that shit 'round these parts

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 26,2010 12:58pm
it'll come...
I want Perkins an Culver's to come too. Midwest food chains FTW

Favorite season for beers and just in general.

Also despite what most beer snobs say, Shipyard Pumpkinhead is fucking delicious.

Shipyard is one of the only oktoberfest beers i don't like, if not the only one. it's too sweet.

and sorry Rusty Trombone, but to me a "slight lemony flavor" in beer is the absolute definition of a beer with frills.

YES. i wholly agree. fruit and beer have no business being together.

Sunset Grill also has Troeg's Flying Mouflan. Awesome beer.

Seriously? Hoegaarden on Tap with a lemon slice is refreshing.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Aug 26,2010 1:25pm
egad. i do not like Hoegaarden. way too light for me.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 26,2010 1:26pm
Troegg's is a good company.

Need to organize a metal trip to the Publick House

having a beer in the shower is probably the greatest thing ever.. outside of getting a blowjob before the jacuzzi that is.

toggletoggle post by IllinoisEnemaBradness at Aug 26,2010 1:37pm
Fuck yeah man. I saw the new Sam Adams Fall sampler, Octoberfest, A pumpkin ALe, and a Dunkelweisen. I think there was a winter in there too. BUYING IT TOMORROW!

toggletoggle post by sever at Aug 26,2010 1:38pm
Autumn is also the best time for weed. So many good outdoor strains will be in the market soon. mmmmm

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Aug 26,2010 1:45pm
i wish i could buy Milly's Pumpkin Ale complete with sugar around glass without having to go to Millys.

toggletoggle post by beleth  at Aug 26,2010 1:46pm

They had this on tap where I went for dinner last night. Racked up a hefty bill real quick.

Sierra Nevada's Tumbler has passed my lips a number of times in the past couple weeks. A solid craft brown ale with a character reminiscient of Newcastle if Newcastle were made by Sierra Nevada...

I used to have the glass even though I'm not a huge fan of the hot ham water...a roommate (or me, I forget) broke it by washing it in scalding hot water. A lot of glasses have died that way.

I can't wait to sip fall brews and smell dead leaves in the air!

toggletoggle post by beleth  at Aug 26,2010 3:21pm
On the note of smoked beers, I had this last week in Alaska

I like pumpkinhead in moderation. More than 2, and it's like "get that shit away from me."

@aril -finally tried Publick House for dinner/drinks right before seeing Cynic recently, definitely looking forward to going back there.

Went to this a few years back and had a great time. Lots of good beers. Hoping to go again this year.

I currently have a bottle of DFH Punkin from 2007 in my fridge.

I love fall beers. There are too many to choose from.

Always like the Rauchbiers, Ayinger Celebrator and Aventius, Weyebacher Pumking, any of the Weihenstephaner's and there are too many others to list.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 26,2010 4:29pm
Ayinger Celebrator isn't bad. Like the little bracelet thing hanging off the bottle, haha.

best time of year in general! Fuck Summer, fuck sloppy Spring. Late September through the end of November is the peak time I dig the most. Thanks for all the tips on the Fall beer too folks! No beer for me tonight though, I just took two 30 mg percs so I am good. A 3rd back surgery is on the way so, yeah. sucks.

toggletoggle post by Spaldino at Aug 26,2010 6:23pm

IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!

toggletoggle post by Alexecutioner at Aug 27,2010 7:35am
i had one of the "flight tours" during last years fall season of some of the local pumpkin ale's, i guess im not a big fan of any beer with fucking cinnamon flavor in it tho, i think a few of them had it. same thing with the winter beers, stop putting nutmeg and cinnamon in beers just to make them "winter" flavor or gtfo

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Aug 27,2010 7:39am
agreed on the cinnamon flavor, the Harpoon Winter is awful. That's why i don't like Shipyard Pumpkin, it's way too sweet. i like a hearty autumn ale, sugar belongs in Smirnoff Ice.

toggletoggle post by Alexecutioner at Aug 27,2010 7:45am
leave the sugar for the bro's icing bro's. if someone handed me a smirnoff ice i would just tell them to gtfo

If you like beers with a nice smokey flavor, try this one... its not cheap, and the only place I know to get it is at Armsby Abbey in Worcester, but its soooo fuckin good. Now I think I might have to go there tonight.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 27,2010 5:12pm
looks great.. Never had. Love smokey beer.
Bought some fall beers last night and walked in the woods for a little. Can't wait for the leaves to change. Some of them are already changing

That HaandBryggeriet is one of the best smokey beers I have ever had.

Sam Adams Octoberfest
Leinekugel Oktoberfest
Harpoon Octoberfest
Shipyard Pumpkinhead
Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin
Dogfishhead Punkin Ale

Those are all that I've had and I love them all. Looking forward to having more this year.

I'm looking the place up right now. How are the prices?

toggletoggle post by Slag NLI at Aug 27,2010 8:16pm
Food - Reasonable and delicious.
Beer - Like any other brew pub, anywhere from $5 to $20 for a beer

toggletoggle post by immortal13 at Aug 27,2010 8:29pm
The prime rib of beef caught my eye immediately.

Leinenkugel is huge out here. Most of it is too sweet for me though. how's the O'Fest taste?

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 27,2010 9:06pm
Yea man.. Leinenkugel is huge out in the Midwest. A shit ton of people drink it in Wisconsin and Minnesota. I was surprised to see it make its way over here. It's still hard to get shit like Yuengling up here. Select places have it.

beer thread is full lulz.

Drinking Post Road Pumpkin Ale as I type this.

Beer with lemon, lime, blueberry, peach, pomegranete, apricot etc. is faggot.

Most summer brews suck balls as well. Do have a soft spot for Honeymoons though.
