Mental image of every Dimmu Borgir song: Thing from the Addams family wearing a frilly sleeve and playing the worst keyboard solo you've ever heard then going backstage and finger banging a chunky goth girl wearing some horrible Emily Strange t-shirt.
Dawn of ashes were ok. I still haven't listened to them on cd yet.
Blood red throne got on stage and found out they didn't have their gear, but something came together and they played. This was their first US show ever. I wanted to ee them for a long time and I'm happy though I completely forgot they had that album come death a few years ago.

Enslaved is on in 15 minutes? gay. i was thinking about going but fuck that, i'm like 40 minutes from Worcester and i'm not paying 25 bucks to see Shagrath in frills.
Sound for Blood Red Throne was way off, don't know what happened there...Enslaved were amazing....Fuck Dimmu after Spiritual black dimensions. Had to sit through their set waiting for my passenger, not fun
I got there during enslaved's second song and left when dimmu started. The best was when grutle was praising the virtues of Sam Adams, new England clam chowder, and the bruins. He said most American beer was like making love in a canoe: fucking close to water.
BRT sounded like crap. I'm sure they're a decent band but the guitar sound was unbearably bad
Enslaved were killer. The sound would have been great except, as with most Palladium shows Ive been to, the kick drum was fucking obliterating everything. I don't get what the FOH guy was thinking.
haha I heard the "making love in a canoe" line but thought I mis-heard him, mainly since I didn't hear the "fucking close to water" part at all ... but the rest of the night I kept joking about making love in canoes.
Only got there in time to see Enslaved & Dimmu - thought Enslaved were good although they had some sloppy play (ugly transitions in songs where the drummer seemed lost) and the proggy soft parts where the keyboard player does vocals are painful and take all the balls out of otherwise awesome songs.
Dimmu were pretty awful, but I'm no fan to begin with. Their sound was actually pretty good and they were tight ... but the light show was painful and they just do nothing for me so we left after 4 songs or so.
One of Blood red throne's guitarists was going DIRECT into the PA and it sounded like total ass, overpowering the mix while the other guy was playing a triple rec (I think?), anyway... the drummer's bass wasn't triggered either so their sound was pretty mush.
Nobody has mentioned the lights during Dimmu's set? I think they were trying to give us epileptic seizures, strobe lights sequenced with the music aiming right at the crowd is serious business

Fuck the $400/night I will never operate your peacock lights.
Stupid inside joke with un: late_rising about their light guy for Dimmu. Seriously what was up with those things? Gave me a headache and I only stayed for four songs. They looked like peacock feathers.
