...Aside from some death metal, haven't heard many other good things come out this year.

I'm permanently 4 months behind on listening to my records, but here's what came from the top of my head.
5 metal albums:
Antediluvian - Logos
Inquisition - Obscure Verses for the Multiverse
Sacriphyx - The Western Front
Tribulation - The Formulas of Death
Darkthrone - Underground Resistance
5 Not metal:
Nick Cave - Push the Sky Away
Tim Hecker - Virgins
Pharmakon - Abandon
The National - Trouble Will Find Me
Grouper - The Man Who Died in His Boat
There are still a ton of albums I need to give proper attention and also listen to for the first time, but here's a handful I enjoy thoroughly, in no order at all:
Hierophant-Great Mother: Holy Monster
Power Trip-Manifest Decimation
Defeated Sanity-Passages Into Deformity
Wormed-Exodromos
Suffocation-Pinnacle Of Bedlam
Ulcerate-Vermis
Iron Lung-White Glove Test
Hatred Surge-Human Overdose (I think this may be from 2012, but I'm too lazy to research)
Mammoth Grinder-Underworlds
KEN mode-Entrench
Harm's Way-Blinded
Summoning - Old Morning's Dawn
Bölzer – Aura
Jon Hopkins - Immunity
Sundial Aeon - Hypnosis
Death Grips - Government Plates
Autopsy - The Headless Ritual
Blood Vaults - The Blazing Gospel of Heinrich Kramer
I'll have to check out more stuff posted.

I'm telling you.. The Vacant Eyes EP is 8 stringed doomy heaven.
Dug the new Cauchemar, Enforcer, Grave Miasma, Obliteration, Shitfucker and Satan albums. Probably won't get around to buying most essential releases from this year 'till 2014.
Magic Circle - st
The bobs - biographies
Rick Moranis - my mothers brisket (no seriously it's hysterical!)
Fuming Mouth - demo
A few more too but these are what come to mind instantly
Just feel this band is really trendy imo, probably because they are on profound lore but they just sound like early 2000s watered botch engineer metalcore with even worse vocals. Dont get the hype and why they are so popular. Its cool if you like them, tried to get into it but couldnt.
Besides Satan, these aren't in any particular order...
Satan - Life Sentence
Manilla Road - Mysterium
Stallion - Mounting the World
Evil Invaders - S/T
Enforcer - Death by Fire
Ranger - Knights of Darkness
Iron Curtain - Jaguar Spirit
Axxion - Wild Racer
Slingblade - The Unpredicted Deeds of Molly Black
Possessor - Make Them Eat Metal
I haven't gotten the new Cauchemar album yet, but I really like what I've heard off of it so far so I may be snatching that up sometime soon.
I have been cramming a ridiculous amount of new releases, like I'm studying for the end of the world.
So far I'm into the following:
Verminous - The Unholy Communion LP + The Curse of the Antichrist EP
Broken Hope - Omen of Disease
Coffins - The Fleshland
Cultes des Ghoules - Henbane
Darkthrone - Underground Resistance
Inquisition - Obscure Verses for the Multiverse
Master - The Witchhunt
Nekrofilth - Devil's Breath
Tribulation- The Formulas of Death
Obliteration - Black Death Horizon
Toxic Holocaust - Chemistry of Consciousness
Manifesting - Descension through the Seven Forbidden Seals
I don't know how it is going to shake out yet.
plus, I'm kinda fascinated with the new Six Feet Under. It doesn't really suck. That's two in a row. How is that possible?

Luv u mark

I don't get the Antediluvian and Grave Miasma love on peoples lists. I thought both bands released their weakest material this year and I'm an Antediluvian super fan.
Logos is still an extremely good album. It's gotten obvious that they're one of the most genuinely 'different' Metal bands out there right now, and it seems to be working for them so far. Through the Cervix of Hawaah was more sonically crushing, though.
I agree that Logos does not command the immediate satisfaction or gravitational pull to re-listen as their past material. It is a much more obtuse record, so I am hesitant to qualify it as less than.
That said, I enjoy listening to Antediluvian more than almost anything else. Their chick drummer is wild.
OCTOBER TIDE, MORTAL DECAY, SEROCS, PENTAGRAM CHILE, PROTECTOR, SAPROGENIC.

Robert brus pollard who keeps talking about vacant eyes is butthurt cause his own band can't keep a lineup due to his self righteousness. Must be tough.
Vulture Industries - The Tower
Oranssi Pazuzu - Valonielu
Portal - Vexovoid
Broken Hope - Omen of Disease
Svartcrown - Profane
Sombres Forêts - La Mort Du Soleil
Ulver - Messe
Aosoth - Arrow in Heart

The new Vacant Eyes. Not only is it the best of 2013, it's the best of all time.

Roibeárd Brus Pollard - It's not good to try and 86 yourself from the same networking circle we all hoped you'd contribute to, man - which it appears you're trying to do because you're just talking shit for no reason. Seriously, it's pointless. When I don't like a band, I keep it to myself. Not go on RTTP and spread it all around. People like what they like. We promote no differently than any other band. I have no issue with you and never did, but you're making a pretty good case for me to have an issue with you.

i wouldn't fight anyone over music. you either like it or you don't. that's fine. plus it's hard to fight someone when they're too afraid to show their true identity like josh and i are...
Witherscape I really enjoyed, it was great to hear Dan Swano doing proggy death metally like music again. Especially since I was on a Moontower on massive repeat when I discovered he had something new out.

Gonna have to agree with kevord on the other grave miasma records being better, went back and listened again and those older ones fuckin slay, new one is good too though.
I'm going to have to add Verminous-Unholy Communion to my list. Finally listened to it yesterday, so fucking riffy. While I'm at it, I'm adding Impaled-The Dead Still Dead Remain, even though it's just The Dead Shall Dead Remain, and Integrity-Systems Overload remix/remaster.
